Mani Monday Featuring the New Steampunk Collection from Gothic Gala Lacquers

*Press Sample*
Hello Lovelies!
I am back again for another installment of Mani Monday and this time I have a super special treat for you Samantha from Gothic Gala Lacquers contacted me and asked if I was interested in swatching a  new Steampunk collection that she was planning to release in the beginning of September. So, of course, I was super excited since not only do I love her polishes but I love all things Steampunk.

OMG! Did you say Steampunk?
Then, I began to worry since I started thinking about the blog and my new found romance with animated gifs and blogging and then I realized I hadn't seen that many steampunk movies.

Hmmm, Let me think about this.
Then, I began to search the internet for steampunk animated gifs...

I searched everywhere and it seemed like a never ending task.
Until it finally hit me that The City of Lost Children would be absolutely PERFECT for this collection. Not only was it one of my favorite films, it also had an amazing steampunk feel and Ron Perlman was in it. So it was made to animate this blog post for Gothic Gala's Steampunk collection.
When most people tend to think of Steampunk, metallics often come to mind so naturally I was thinking that I was going to have shiny metallic nails. However, Samantha always continues to surprise me with her collections. Instead of bright metallics, she went the opposite direction and did mattes. Yup, that is right a mostly matte Steampunk collection which is simply brilliant. I liked how she took the grittier aspect of Steampunk while still working with the traditional metallic aspect. I swatched the polishes as they are and then with a top coat to give them either a matte or a shiny look so that you can see the differences. Just take a look...

Blue Steel is probably the most non traditional steampunk color with it being blue.It is a lovely hybrid combination of both a lighter blue and silver. This is naturally a matte however, it is just as gorgeous with a shiny top coat which makes it slightly darker and more metallic looking with a shiny top coat. I will have to say it is one of my favorites.

Bronze is the is a lovely like orange with a hint of gold and tons of shimmer when the light hits it just right. It is also a matte but looks only slightly darker with a shiny top coat.

Rust is the mid range tone of the steampunk metallics. While it is a lovely orange metallic hue it is darker with a  bit more red or even possibly a hint of pink. This is another matte but turns slightly darker when the shiny top coat is added but just as lovely.

Copper is another one of my favorites which is the darkest of the three orange metallics. It has more of brown hue than the other two with the most dramatic transformation when the shiny top coat is applied. You can see more of the brown the shiny top coat than in its' natural matte.

Finally, last but not least no steampunk collection would be complete without Silver. This is collection is no exception. While this color is silver it isn't the flashy over the top metallic silver since it would be completely out of place with the rest of the colors. This silver is more subtle and subdued however still silver none the less. This is the ONLY naturally shiny polish out of the entire collection and it is just as stunning with a matte top coat.

So there you have it lovelies, the Steampunk collection from Gothic Gala Lacquers releases September 1st. You can  either pick up the entire collection for $37 $45m since she has added a new color which is on its' way to me right now, or you can pick out your favorites for $8.50 a piece.

With prices like that you won't completely blow your beauty budget

Mani Monday featuring Literary Lacquer!

*Purchased* *Press Sample*
Hello Lovelies!
I am back again today with a new installment of Mani Monday! First, I must apologize that this post was supposed to go up last Monday but to to the preschool chaos that was happening here I missed it. So, I do apologize. But, today I have to chance to show of some really gorgeous beauties from Literary Lacquer. Literary Lacquer is run by a wonderful lady named Amy and she creates FABULOUS polishes based off of novels! So of course being the big giant literary nerd that I am, I squealed with joy at the aspect of this.

Yup, this is my face looking at her available polishes. Cause seriously they are pretty damn epic.
When the polishes arrived I was blown away as soon as I opened the package. It was as if pure literary and polish goodness powers combined and punched me in the face with their epic-ness.

So much pure awesome in one package!
I was determined to swatch them all...

I was determined!

I originally picked this gorgeous polish, Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster, which is you are a scifi junkie you  will automatically know that is from Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. It is one of my favorite books (and yes I even loved the movie hence for your viewing pleasure the fabulous animated gifs). It is described as a vibrant turquoise blue linear holographic polish with added fine holographic glitter. The description isn't kidding this polish is PACKED with holographic glitter. It hits you in the face when the sun shines on it .
That's the holo hitting you in the face.. Just be prepared.
But don't just take my word for it, take a look at this!
I would say that it is more on the green side of turquoise but either way it is fabulous.

Another sunshine shot trying to capture all that holo-y goodness.

Look at all that HOLO!

I also was lucky enough of get the Bionic MmmmDetector, from the Good Parts Collection based off Erotic Fiction, which is a polish inspired by Vox written by Nicholson Baker. For those of you who are history buffs, or actually lived thru this, this book is the same one given to President Clinton from  Monica Lewinsky. Bionic MmmmDetector is described as a black jelly packed with aqua, teal, blue and green micro glitter. I will admit that when I applied the first coat I was wondering if I needed to apply some undies underneath the polish. But I didn't, it builds up beautifully giving the polish amazing depth.
Step away from the undie polish cause this is gorgeous all on it's own!

This polish while not based on HGTG looks like an amazing space polish.

Trying to capture the glitters just right

Close up shot.. Doesn't it look like an exploding planet?
This could totally be the glitters in the polish.

Finally last but never least, Amy was sweet enough to include a sneak preview a polish, Camazotz,  from the Wrinkle in Time Collection which is another favorite book from my childhood. Camazotz is the planet that has been swallowed by the Dark Thing. This polish fits it perfectly since it is described as a black linear holo with a blue/ red shift. It can even appear purple at some angles.

Don't be sad, while the planet was swallowed by the Dark Thing the polish is fabulous!

See here it appears black

And close up you can see the purplish hue.
I loved all of the polishes so much I wanted to track Amy down and immediately hug her for combining two of my loves, books and polish into one awesome package!

So much literary and polish love!

A Swatch Here and A Swatch There: The New Lipcraft Glosses from Notoriously Morbid

*Purchased*
Hello Lovelies!
I am back! I know some of you are wondering where the hell have I been? Or at least I am hoping that some of you have missed me.

Yeah, here is to hoping..

I have been attempting to wrangle my horde and get them ready for school which starts for two of them on Monday so hence the dash to the store for supplies, orientation, realizing that you forgot to buy pens for your oldest and then having to go BACK to the store, swimming lessons and of course everything in between. On top of all of that my computer decided to constantly reboot itself for a day making it impossible for me to hop on line and post. Cause I will freely admit that now I have become addicted to animated gifs and sarcastic photos to get my rambling across that I can't imagine my blog without them.

Animated gifs are so much fun!

But I am finally back today with the end in sight since school starts on Monday and everything is done.

Yeah, who am I kidding. Nothing is EVER done.

And of top of that I received some Morbid Mail (mail from Notoriously Morbid) with her new Lipcraft Glosses. Yup, lip glosses and Lovecraft mingled together to have these gorgeous love children. Oh the joy! My dark heart was set a flutter. I immediately ripped open the package and slathered these lippies on.

This is EXACTLY what I looked like 2 seconds after opening up the package.

Just take a look at them..

Yup, I made all kinds of weird duck faces for these swatches for you to enjoy.

Pale Sanity

Pale Sanity is described on the site as a creamy tangerine with a gold shift with a sheer opacity. While most people automatically think of ORANGE when they see the word tangerine. However it is what I would call a neutral orange. It is pale and creamy with a hint of gold perfect for a nude lip.

Serannian Dreams

Serannian Dreams is described as a hot bubblegum pink which has medium to full opaque coverage. This gloss is BRIGHT especially on the girls with corpse like complexions that I have. It doesn't take much to get fully opaque which is an awesome plus.

Cosmic Gulfs

Finally, last but not least, is Cosmic Gulfs which is described as a metallic purple with medium opaque coverage. So if you if you are follower of my blog, I immediately must have anything with the term metallic on it. So, I had to definitely get this gloss. It is a gorgeous medium purple which builds up to fully opaque quite nicely. While some of you may think that metallic automatically makes you think that you are going to have metal lips and it isn't wearable. This is what I would call a wearable metallic. It isn't BOOM I have super robotic lips that are so awesome I can destroy a city instantly! It is a nice subtle vampy metallic purple which you can wear without people thinking you are here to take over the planet. As you can tell this is my favorite of the three since I love metallics (even super destroying planet domination lips) and purple.

If you are hell bent on world domination work on your evil villain laugh in this lipgloss.

So if you have the yearning to add some awesome Lipcraft Gloss to your lips you can purchase them here for$4.50 each.
They can all be yours...

You can also follow Notoriously Morbid on Facebook, Instagram and in their fan group on FaceBook. I hope that you enjoyed this installment of A Swatch Here and A Swatch There! Until next time lovelies!
