Mani Monday: No Power in the Verse Can Stop Me

*Purchased*
Hello lovelies!
I am back again with another installment of Mani Monday! And if you are a super big geek like I am you did this when you read the title...

OMG a FIREFLY REFERENCE?!?!?!
Yup that is right, today I am doing a Firefly Mani Monday feature!

I know I am super excited too!

While I know that there are a lot of polish companies that have done a Firefly collection, which the rabid Firefly fan in me wants to collect them all, today I am doing a feature on a special limited edition run.  Yup, that is right. I said limited edition. And we all know that limited edition means, that if you don't get this polish you feel like you are in...
I feel this way every time I see something is limited edition.
Quickly followed by this emotion..

LIMITED EDITION?!?!

Then finally breaking down into this...

WHY does it have to be LIMITED EDITION?!?!
But this lovely little polish was one of the options for the Notoriously Morbid's Vanishing Cabinet for July. It consisted of four shadows which were inspired by Firefly and either a lipgloss (for the international customers) or a polish. After the Vanishing Cabinet sold out, Carrie was kind enough to offer any additional extras up for sale on the Notoriously Morbid site. So immediately I picked up this polish, cause seriously FIREFLY. Enough said.

Yup, I am Firefly Obsessed

No Power in the Verse is listed on the site as the "first Morbid Mani polish full of microfine holo glitter in black and purple, mixed with holo blue, holo silver, rosy pink and black shards." While this polish is JAMMED pack with a wide variety of glitters I would say that you need a coat of "undies" underneath this polish to really bring out the depth of all the glitters. I mean just take a look.

All the fancy glittery goodness!

I wish the sun would fully cooperate with bottle shots..

The sun DID however come out for nail shots.. Forgive my Reaver Clawed hand

Makes me think that the whole verse in on my fingers

And a close up shot...Pretty isn't she?
Due to it being so jammed packed full of glitters dries matte and can be a bit rough. The simple solution to that is just a topcoat to help smooth out everything and to really bring out the depth of the shine. I used the following polishes on this mani:
Nail Trek II (base coat)
Nail Pattern Boldness Glitter A Peel (trying this is my first time which it is supposed to help with glitter polish removal so stay tuned for an upcoming review)
Sinful Colors What's Your Name (for undies 2 coats)
Notoriously Morbid's No Power In the Verse (2 coats)
Gothic Gala Lacquer Smooth Me Over (1 Coat)
Vapid Lacquer's Get Your Shine On! Quick Dry Top Coat (1 Coat)

So if you hurry over to Notoriously Morbid there are seven mini bottles left of this limited edition polish though I do hope that Carrie and Laura make this part of their permanent upcoming line. (*insert an obvious hint hint) and you can snatch up for $4.00 which is a steal. You can also follow Notoriously Morbid on Facebook, Instagram and their Facebook FanGroup. I hope that you enjoyed this installment of Mani Monday and until next time lovelies Stay Shiny and Enjoy Captain Tightpants!

Captain Tightpants wants you to watch Firefly and loves this polish too!

Quick NOTD: Wibbly Wobbly Timey Wimey with Lucky 13 Lacquer

*purchased*
Hello lovelies!
I am back with a quick Nail of the Day while I usually share nail photos for Mani Monday I wanted to share the EPIC level of wear of this gorgeous polish.  Before this obsession, I would walk around with the saddest little remnants of polish hanging on my finger for dear life and not have care in the world.  Usually I have polishes chip within a day or two of wear even with a top coat and a base coat. I could walk around with gloves on and still get a chip. And then this happens...
Yup since my nail polish obsession started this is me.
Quickly followed by this emotion...

I JUST FINISHED PAINTING! SERIOUSLY?!?!
So when I find a polish that can with stand my epic level mutant skill of chipping polish I am impressed...
Yup, see all that debris? It is chipped polish.

So behold this gorgeous gem from Lucky 13 Lacquer! Wibbly Wobbly, Timey Wimey polish has lasted 5 days on my mutant polish chipping fingers. Yes, I just said 5 DAYS which is damn near a miracle for me. So I had to take a photo of it today, day 5, to share with you. Behold...

Take a look at THIS on day 5!

I am just beyond impressed. The Doctor would be proud.

I was trying to save this polish until I got my Doctor Who stamping plates and attempt to stamp something Timey Wimey on it but I had to share this amazing polish that is STILL on my nails!

Behold the epic stay on POWER!
If you want to pick up this polish from Lucky 13 Lacquer you can do so here. And don't forget to show them some love on Facebook and the Facebook Fan Group!  Until next time lovelies!

Mani Monday: Swatchapalooza with Lucky 13 Lacquers!

*Press*
Hello Lovelies!
I am back again today this time with a swatchapalooza of the new D&D collection from Lucky 13 Lacquer!  I managed to get four of the lovely collection to swatch and give you a sneak peek so I am super excited out it. There were so many pretties to choose from! I want them all!

Yup that's right I busted it out old school.
Some of you may remember the classic Saturday morning D&D cartoon which I loved!
That is right Dungeons and Dragons! Tabletop gaming at it's finest and on of the essential Geekdom of holy grails. So needless to say that inner geek was super excited...
Yup I was that excited.

And then I actually learned about the collection that is what I would deem a mix and match collection. You have your three colors based off aligment (good, morally neutral, evil),  three more glitter toppers to round out alignment either lawful, ethically neutral, chaotic and three glittery jellys of things you either need or have happen to you (health potion, mana potion and critical hit). So you can wear your aligment on your NAILS and no one will be the wiser as you plot their death. Wait did I say that out loud?

Here is an aligment chart that help map out the possibility of fabulous nails!

So I set out to swatch these babies and make them look as fabulous and for my first attempt I was determined to do this. However the sun decided to hide from me that day and all of my photos were horrible dark.

Yup this sums up my first swatchapalooza attempt.
However it do cooperate with me the second time and I was victorious. Just take a look at these awesome swatches.

Just look at Lawful!

Close up shot.  Two coats.

Lawful is a beautiful purple glittery top coat with hexes, circles , squares and dots. I didn't have to go digging for the glitters they just layered on beautifully. I did this glittery top coat without undies so that you can see how much glitter is really packed in there!

Health Potion.

Close up shot!  3 coats
Health potion is a beautiful vibrant devilishly red jelly jam packed fully of red circle, hex and dot glitters. This is just so pretty and bright.

Evil! My favorite alignment to play.

The sun strayed from this shot as if knowing I was showcasing evil (3 coats) so you can't see all the glittery goodness.

Evil is my all time favorite alignment to play when I am playing D&D and that shouldn't really be a stretch.. I really liked how Jess decided to make Evil a little different than the traditional black. Evil is a deeper darker red, which remind me of old blood...(like the blood of my enemies...bwhahaha!) with lot of hint of glittery red and gold sparkles that just looks amazing in the sunlight.

Last but not least Mana Potion! Something you always need as a caster!

Mana Potion will  make you feel like you can take over the world with these pretty nails!
Last but definitely not least is Mana Potion and if you have ever played a caster you now how important this is. Mana Potion is a lovely cerulean blue jelly packed with hexes and circle glitter of various sizes. While I loved all four of the new collection this one by far is my favorite out of all of them due to the color of the jelly!  I felt as pretty as Legolas from Lord of the Rings.

Yup I felt as pretty as Legolas' hot elven self.

This collection is live NOW so head over to Lucky 13 Lacquer right away and take a look at all of her amazing collections. You can find her also on Facebook and the Facebook group! I know I will be picking up some more soon and priced at $8.50 for a full sized bottle you can easily mix and match to create your own alignment. I hope that you enjoyed this Mani Monday Swatchapalooza with Lucky 13 Lacquer and until next time lovelies!

EOTD/FOTD Series: May the FOURTH be with you featuring BeautyBarBaby!

Hello Lovelies!
I rarely post on the weekends since it is strictly reserved for family time but since today is a special day I wanted to share my EOTD look with you. In honor of May the Fourth Be With You I decided to do a Star Wars themed look and what better way than to do a look inspired on my favorite villains, Boba Fett. Why Boba Fett you ask? Well simply because he is just a total bad ass. He doesn't whine or mope about how hard things are and poor him with his villainy, Boba Fett just owns it and revels in his awesome bounty hunter status. So that is why I am doing my first Star Wars themed looks dedicated to him. Cause I wanted to be awesome like Boba Fett when I was little.

Seriously look at this armor, total bad ass.

For this look I used the following products:

Too Faced Shadow Insurance
NYX  Jumbo pencil in Milk
That's Really Bananas - inner corner (BeautyBarBaby)
Omen - all over lid (BBB)
Meteor-outer v and in crease (BBB)
Blackened Ruby- above Meteor in the crease and the outer portion of the lower lash line (BBB)
Poisoned Apple -above Blackened Ruby and front portion of the lower lash line (BBB)
Miss Daisy- highlight/ brow bone (BBB)
Black gel Liner (BBB)
Barbara lashes from Oh My Lash

Do you have a favorite Star War Character? Who is it?

I am off to watch the original trilogy so until next time lovelies!

In the Pursuit of Fabulous-Review of Geek Chic Cosmetics

Hello again lovelies!
I am feeling SUPER productive today since I am tackling two blog posts in one day. O.O But I just couldn't wait any longer to do the review for Geek Chic Cosmetics. This company combines two of my favorite things: makeup and geek culture. Honestly it just doesn't get any better than that. With collections ranging from eyeshadow sets inspired by amazing TV series, to button masher nail polishes, gorgeous glitters and scents based of tragic women in history they have something for everyone. Their formulas for everything that they carry are both gluten free and cruelty free. So not only are the colors and collections based off awesome geeky inspiration but they are racking up the karma points and looking out for their customer as well. While their pictures of their pigments are gorgeous on their site (and it makes me wonder what camera they are using cause I need it ) I always want to see colors against skin. I love that they are awesome with providing swatches against skin with each and every shadow. But if you are anything like I am, you also want to see pictures of the shadows used in looks to see how blendable and pigmented they are. So Dreadful has you covered with both swatches and looks I did with their pigments.

*All swatches were done over NYX Jumbo pencil in Milk*

Now that I have spammed you with enough pictures, on with the ratings...

Color Variety- 9 out of 10 bats
Like the wide variety of geek subculture that they cover, their colors are just as varied. Each collection seems to embody the colors of the movie, game, TV series, etc that it was based on. For example the latest collection, Summoner, is full of shimmer and sparkle just like the avatars that are called forth in the video game that lay waste to your enemies. The So Say We All Collection has three gorgeous gray shades which are all different (which my camera failed to pick up the differences) but gives you the same gray feel of the ships on Battlestar Galactica. And honestly , I am not even going to lie about it, they made me squeal like a school girl with their Dr Who and Lovecraft inspired collections.

Color Pigmentation-9 out of 10 bats
Their color pigmentation is just superb. The shimmery colors have tons of sparkle and shimmer to them and a good balance of pigmentation. I hate shadows that are nothing but pure shimmer and the color is nonexistent  I didn't have that problem here. While most of the colors that I received were shimmers the matte colors are just as pigmented and they all blend like a dream.

Affordability-9.5 out of 10 bats
If the colors and the collections don't automatically make you squeal like a schoolgirl, the price will. All of the pigments run 5.99 which is extremely reasonable. The jars (which I am guessing are 5gm jars) are packed full and shipped with sifters (which I instantly remove when the jars get in my hot little hands). They also have a set of the month which is half price for the entire month! So you can get the whole collection of just a couple of pigments you can't live without for half price.

Overall-9.5 out of 10 bats
I don't how to put this any plainer that this. I simply adore Geek Chic Cosmetics. They have combined two things that I love, makeup and geek culture. Their color variety is fantastic. It is diverse as the geek culture itself. The pigmentation is amazing. The shimmers have just the right balance of sparkle and color and the mattes are just as vivid all at a price that can't be beat. Not to mention they have a monthly sale that you can take advantage up and stock up on entire monthly selection or just the colors you want from it. This is a company that you don't want to miss out on and you will want to keep an eye to see what kind of gorgeous colors they will be coming up with next. So check them out and tell them I sent you. ^_~

Stay tuned for another circle lens review! Until next time my dears...
